The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday if the government issues typhoon signals No. 3 and No. 8, the bureau will immediately send information to residents travelling outside Macau and tourists in Macau via SMS about typhoon updates and remind them to pay attention to land, sea, and air transport arrangements to enhance tourists’ travel experience in Macau.
The statement said that the bureau will continue to optimise the content of the messages by highlighting the information on the suspension of public transport services and reminding tourists to pay attention to typhoon news and related matters, including bridge passage, harbour and transport service arrangements.
MGTO also said that it would promote preventive measures for visitors to Macau during the typhoon season through infographics and promotional videos, and continue to optimise the distribution of typhoon news, the statement said.
MGTO has stepped up publicity on the weather precautions to be taken during the typhoon season in Macau through its official social platforms, local television stations, bus and taxi TV advertisements, websites, TV monitors at tourist information counters, and outdoor large LED screens, according to the statement.
Also, MGTO will notify and request the related tourism authorities in the mainland to assist in informing travel agencies which are organising trips to Macau, to make corresponding itinerary arrangements in Macau during typhoon days.
