The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement that it strongly condemns yesterday’s violence after a traffic accident between a public bus and a light vehicle near Praça de Jorge Álvares, where the driver of the light vehicle slapped the bus, repeatedly verbally abused the driver and pushed the bus driver twice.
According to the statement, the accident happened at around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, after which the bus driver reported feeling unwell and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.
The statement said that the bureau will fully cooperate with the Public Security Police (PSP) to investigate the case and has demanded that the bus company take legal action against the driver of the light vehicle.
The bureau stressed that under all circumstances, drivers should respect each other and never use violence, adding that bus drivers shoulder the responsibility of protecting the lives of passengers, so the personal safety of drivers must always be protected, the statement said.
