Macau Forum panellists suggested yesterday that after the domestic violence prevention law’s enactment a month ago the focus should now turn to how the government protects the victims.

The forum, which is held every Sunday in Areia Preta Park, is a weekly public debate programme run by government-owned broadcaster TDM. About 40 audience members, many of the Pearl Horizon pre-sale buyers, and four panellists attended yesterday’s forum.

Addressing the forum, University of Macau (UM) Assistant Dean and Associate Professor Iau Teng Pio said the public ought to focus on what the government should do to protect the victims when reviewing the effect of the law.
