The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held its “Quality Tourism Services Accreditation Scheme” (QTSAS) Mid-phase Review Briefing Seminar for the Food and Beverage Sector and Travel Agency Sector on Thursday, at the World Trade Centre Macau in Nape, to offer participants a review of the inspections and assessments conducted for the first stage, an MGTO statement said yesterday.

The seminar had over 100 participants, according to the statement.

The statement noted that the seminar featured a special trade session about the “Macao Courtesy Campaign” to explain practices of courtesy and quality frontline services for customers, and professional skill and expertise enhancement through courtesy, along with its impacts.

The statement said that the session highlighted the importance of providing services with a polite attitude in a tourist city, while “upholding the spirit of courtesy towards visitors and conveying the message of ‘Be My Guest • Feel At Home’”. Invited trade members also discussed their experiences on how to provide “warm hospitality to customers”.

MGTO elaborated on the inspections done for the first stage of the Mystery Customer Assessment to enable participants to learn what they can improve on in time. MGTO also arranged for a “technical support unit” to conduct the Mystery Customer Assessment at the second stage, hoping that participants can get satisfactory results throughout the assessment, according to the statement.

The statement added that when addressing the seminar, MGTO Acting Director Cheng Wai Tong said that MGTO hopes that local businesses can improve their service quality, professional knowledge and hospitable attitude for customers through participation in QTSAS so that residents and visitors can experience warm and stellar services.

Meanwhile, the statement said that MGTO has conducted inspections and assessments since early June of participating merchants according to QTAS’ established mechanism, format and judging criteria, noting that 379 inspections were conducted on 267 businesses to complete the first stage of the Mystery Customer Assessment.
