A local woman lost US$1,200 (9,600 patacas) late last month after she met a purported “British” man online, and deposited the money into an account number a woman from a purported courier company had given her, according to the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The victim deposited the money, as she believed what the purported courier company had told her – an item set to be delivered to her had been seized and the money was needed to reclaim it. The victim believed the item was a birthday gift the supposedly “British” man had sent her.
PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam announced the case at a regular press conference yesterday.
