Only 12 out of 27 lawmakers voted yesterday in support of a trade union bill proposed by Ella Lei Cheng I, Lam Heong Sang and Kwan Tsui Hang, key members of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen).

Lei and Lam are indirectly-elected lawmakers while Kwan is a directly-elected lawmaker.

It was the eighth time the legislature has rejected a trade union bill since the establishment of the Macau Special Administration Region (MSAR) in 1999.
