The New Macau Association (NMA) set up a booth in Travessa dos Anjos yesterday to gather signatures for a petition which calls to stop the implementation of a joint university admission entrance exam until the government has dispelled pupils and teachers’ doubts.

The joint exam replaces the separate entrance exams of four local tertiary education institutions, namely the public University of Macau (UM), Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM,) and the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).

NMA Vice President Sulu Sou Ka Hou told reporters that the association organised the petition with the aim of making some teachers and pupils’ concerns about the joint exam known to the government. NMA President Scott Chiang Meng Hin also said his association aimed to urge the government to dispel all teachers and pupils’ doubts before the joint exam is fully implemented.
