A 58-year-old local man has been arrested for sexually harassing a 20-year-old female bus passenger by touching her breasts, Public Security Police spokesman Wong Wai Chon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Wong said that the male suspect is surnamed Tang, who told the police he’s jobless.
According to Wong, at about 7 p.m. on August 22 the victim caught a bus to the Qingmao border checkpoint from Praça de Ferreira do Amaral, during which the woman felt someone on the bus close to her touching her breasts.
Wong said that the victim was frightened and decided to report the case to the police the next day. Thanks to the citywide CCTV surveillance system, police identified Tang and intercepted him in Fai Chi Kei district.
Tang initially claimed that he accidentally “bumped” into the victim. Under further questioning at a police station, he denied the accusation.
Wong added that CCTV footage on the bus showed that Tang did intentionally walk towards the victim.
Tang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces a sexual harassment charge, Wong said.
