Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Lon said in a statement that PJ officers were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday that a male corpse was found in a flat of a residential building on Alameda da Harmonia.
According to the statement, the 61-year-old male was a Macau resident who lived alone.
The statement noted that a neighbour complained to the property management about the smell coming from the flat. The doorman knocked on the door, but no one answered while a foul smell was emanating from the flat, so the manager called the police.
The statement said the police and firefighters went to his home, and after breaking open the locked gate of the flat, the man was found lying outside his bedroom.
According to a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious or criminal injuries were found on the deceased, the statement said.
The case was listed as a dead body found. The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination. The case has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, according to the statement.
