The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched a brand-new version of its website yesterday which features five optimised characteristics to enable businesses, residents and the media to conveniently obtain information, according to an MGTO statement.

The statement noted that the new website (www.dst.gov.mo) also retains the Macao Tourism Industry Net’s (industry.macaotourism.gov.mo) original functions such as licensing services, tourism crisis management, business tourism and e-service, being maintained for residents and trade members.

MGTO’s other services and information have been re-organised, the statement said, including various themed websites, Macao Tourism News plus, Macao Tourism Data plus and social media. The destination marketing website (www.macaotourism.gov.mo) for visitors continues to function and provide them with the latest travel information about Macau.

The statement added that the website enables easy access to “MGTO’s latest trends” through multimedia content, while users can also share website content via email or social media anytime.

The responsive web design, meanwhile, enables the support of web browsers on different phones and devices, according to the statement. The web design is also in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1)*, following a series of guidelines and design requirements to help create a more accessible environment online. The statement added that users with special needs can access website content more easily through the screen reader software.

The website is available in traditional and simplified Chinese, Portuguese, and English.

*Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 defines how to make Web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Accessibility involves a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
