The private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and telecom operator CTM jointly established Macau’s first Smart Campus Private Network, for which an on-campus launch ceremony was held on Friday, CTM said in a statement.
The statement noted that their cooperation aims to meet the need for the development of a smart campus in the city.
CTM’s Commercial Vice-President Ebel Cham Pou I was quoted in the statement as saying: “We joined hands with MUST to establish the first 5G campus in Macau with the 5G private network technologies. Riding on this private network, students and staff from the university could have a safer and more convenient experience in connecting to the campus intranet and applications by CTM 5G network anywhere in Macau”.
“Meanwhile, CTM will waive any 5G data usage of its local and 5G 3-destinations plan, when connecting to the intranet and campus applications”, she added.
Meanwhile, MUST Vice-President Tong Ka Lok added: “‘5G Smart Campus’ is not only an innovation project in cooperation with CTM, but also a fruitful achievement that combines 5G technology and campus infrastructure, as well as an innovative demonstration for the promotion and adoption of 5G technology in Macau.”
Tong added: “We look forward to the future development and application of the ‘5G Smart Campus’ and continue to promote the university’s smart services to enable better education, teaching and talent training, and contribute to the appropriately diversified development of Macau’s economy”
CTM and MUST will continue to deepen their cooperation in the smart campus field and provide more convenient smart application service scenarios for teachers and students, according to the statement.
