Land near a Light Transit Rail (LRT) construction site close to A-Ma Temple sunk on Friday. The area measured 3 metres by 3 metres, according to the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
Macau Society of Civil and Structural Engineers President Wu Chou Kit said on Saturday that the subsidence was likely to have been caused by soil erosion as the area is on reclaimed land.
He told reporters that as far as he knew following the incident many sandbags had been put 20 metres below the ground and concrete was being poured into the hole.
