The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) urged the public in a statement yesterday not to drink a Japanese-made plum wine product which may contain shards of glass. No products of the problematic batch have been found to be on sale in Macau.
The statement did not identify the exact area in Japan where the products were manufactured.
According to the statement, the bureau was informed by Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency that a 300 ml plum wine product, batch number NS24C# (#represents any letter I to S) and barcode number 4905846117188, which is called “さらりとした梅酒”, under the brand of Choya may contain shards of glass.
The statement said after the bureau was informed about the problematic product it immediately issued a food alert to the local food trade and dispatched officials to inspect the market.
The statement urged consumers to stop drinking the product immediately if they are in possession of it, adding that the trade should also immediately stop supplying or selling the products if it holds any.
Moreover, the statement also reminded local importers to keep delivery records so that the local authorities can trace the sources and flows of the respective food products when necessary.
