British contemporary artist Mr Doodle marked his first live creation performance in Macau at the City of Dreams (COD) in Cotai on Tuesday, during which he doodled on a blank white 2.5-metre by one-metre sculpture of the COD logo in front of audience members including local government officials and members of Melco’s senior management.
Mr Doodle’s real name is Sam Cox and, according to a website called Ocula, is known for his “busy, light-hearted doodles that spread across walls, rooms, and even his own custom-doodled attire”.
Yesterday’s event also saw the world premiere of the 30 cm art installation, the “Mr Doodle | Mickey Mouse” Sculpture, which is made out of resin and features the artist’s take on the character. The “highly sought-after piece”, a Melco statement noted yesterday, is limited to 500 worldwide.
Moreover, the Kent-born artist’s works are also being showcased in the “Mr Doodle First Exhibition in Macao” at the integrated resort, which runs through October 15 and features four large-scale installations, as well as 24 original art works.
The exhibition is organised by Melco Resorts & Entertainment in conjunction with art space Artelli at City of Dreams, and is held in support of the ongoing “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”.
