The Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will temporarily close certain park areas near the 70th Macau Grand Prix’s (MGP) circuit for the construction of spectator stands, the bureau said in a statement yesterday.

This year’s motor-racing extravaganza is slated to take place on November 11-12 and November 16-19.

According to the statement, the area of the Arts Park between Praça de Ferreira do Amaral and a section of Rua de Cantão, and the area in Reservatório Park next to the Macau Grand Prix Building in Avenida da Amizade will be closed from next Monday.

The statement noted that D. Maria II Hill Park and D. Maria II Belvedere, both near the race circuit, will be closed during the race periods.

The statement added that IAM will also strengthen the inspection and maintenance of trees near the circuit, while works such as pruning dense tree crowns will also be arranged.

Members of the public are urged to pay attention to on-site signs and the temporary arrangements. Those passing should also heed signs and avoid approaching work locations during the maintenance period, the statement said.

For enquiries, one may call the Civic Service Hotline on 2833 7676.
