The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) celebrated its 28th anniversary on Friday, during which a ceremony was hosted on its Mong-Ha campus, the tertiary education institution said in a statement on Monday.

The statement noted that IFTM teaching staff, leaders and supervisors, students and alumni representatives were invited to join the event.

The statement said that IFTM President Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan thanked all IFTM members for their dedication and efforts, which have laid a solid foundation for the higher education institution’s development over the past 28 years. She added that IFTM’s quality of education has achieved international recognition, boosting the global status of tourism education in Macau.

Vong emphasised that with a broader vision, a more innovative mindset and a higher position, IFTM is committed to creating a “top-notch teaching and research environment”, as well as striving for a first-class education standard to continue cultivating “professional leaders and elites” for Macau, the nation and the global tourism service industry, the statement added.

Vong noted that IFTM has adhered to its original mission of nurturing professionals for Macau’s tourism industry throughout the past 28 years, adding that it has maintained its enthusiasm and vigour to make continuous progress, according to the statement.
