Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Students Comprehensive Development Division Chief Lei Im Kei told reporters yesterday that the bureau would continue to cooperate with the Public Security Police (PSP) in carrying out various forms of anti-fraud education programmes to enhance young students’ awareness of preventing and deterring crimes in schools and surrounding communities.

Lei made the remarks at a press conference after the government-appointed Youth Affairs Committee’s plenary meeting in the morning, which was hosted by Youth Affairs Committee President and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U.

According to Lei, with the aim of urging students to be vigilant against criminals using different methods to defraud, the bureau, in conjunction with local education institutions, has conducted over 90 programmes since May to promote crime prevention at on-campus orientation booths and student associations’ events, through anti-fraud videos, brochures and seminars with a view to helping students learn more about fraud prevention.

In addition, Lei also revealed that the bureau will lead a local sports delegation to participate in the nation’s 1st Student (Youth) Games from November 5-15 in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. A total of 250 local students will participate by competing in nine games including basketball, football, swimming, table tennis, track and field and volleyball, Lei added.
