The government is drafting a consultation document on a “new type” of public housing, which targets those who do not fit the criteria to apply for public housing but cannot afford to buy a flat from the private sector, especially young people, Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On said yesterday.
Chui made the remarks when answering lawmaker Zheng Anting’s question about what measures the government would take to help young people purchase their own flats, during a Q&A plenary session in the legislature’s hemicycle.
The session came one day after Chui delivered his 2017 Policy Address.
