A local driver crashed into a bus, roadside barriers and four flexible bollards and left the scene without reporting the incident to the police yesterday, Public Security Police announced it in a statement.
The statement said that the male suspect is a 50-year-old local resident.
The statement said that the police received a report early yesterday morning that a car accident had occurred at the junction of Rua Nova do Patane and Avenida Marginal do Patane. The police finally intercepted the suspect near the Fai Chi Kei Health Centre.
The suspect was given a breathalyser which showed that his alcohol concentration was 3.82 grams per litre of blood.
After investigation it was found that the suspect was also involved in repeatedly crossing the central dividing line, driving against the traffic and failing to give way to on coming traffic.
The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing drunk driving, and breaching the city’s road traffic law charges.
