Macau’s Audio-Visual Cut Association said in a recent statement that it is calling for film submissions for its “Macao Films & Videos Panorama 2023” (MFVP) programme.
The programme, organised by CUT and subsidised by the Macau Cultural Development Fund, aims to discover and promote local videos and talents. The statement said the association is seeking submissions of both long and short films produced between January 2022 and September 2023, from genres such as story films, documentaries, animations, and experimental. The statement added that the festival will also feature thematic screenings and lectures about contemporary Macau cinema.
Submitted works will go through a preliminary “Made in Macao” selection for shortlisting, the statement said, adding that the shortlisted films will be screened publicly and their producers will be invited to participate in a post-screening symposium. The shortlisted films will also compete in the “Jury Award” which will be judged by key film festival curators from the mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
The winner will be awarded a trophy and a cash prize of 10,000 patacas, while the winner of the “Audience Choice Award” will receive a trophy and 5,000 patacas.
The film competition is now open for applications by local producers or films shot in Macau. The submission period runs from September 18 to October 10. Anyone interested, visit docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScqlp_nBJ_mVxn-0d60S82ZCbae4861PGs3i4yKPnn2_0XTtA/viewform.
