Macau will celebrate the 74^th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on Sunday.

Due to the National Day celebrations, most of the members of The Macau Post Daily’s editing team will be taking the holiday off and return to work on Wednesday so the print edition of your favourite newspaper will be on the newsstands again on Thursday.

However, our digital edition on our website https://www.macaupostdaily.com/ will be updated round-the-clock. Our local news and editorials as well as commentary by national media organisations are also available on various LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

We wish all our readers, advertisers, distributors and contributors pleasant Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a public holiday tomorrow.

All government offices will be closed from Monday and will reopen on Thursday, while banks will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

‘HK woman’ cheats local man out of over HK$1.5 million in online investment scam

A local man reported to the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Friday that he had been cheated by a “female” netizen out of more than HK$1.5 million in an online investment scam, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said at the press briefing yesterday.The victim, in his fifties, told the police that he met the person, who claimed to be a woman from Hong Kong, via a social media app in October this year. The woman told him that she was good at investing in digital currencies and persuaded him to invest online.
