The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) forecast on its website yesterday that Tropical Cyclone Koinu will come within 800 km of Macau this morning.

Koinu will cross southern Taiwan and then move into the South China Sea and make landfall on the coast of Guangdong, the forecast said.

The forecast said Koinu is moving more slowly than expected.

Affected by the downdraft outside Koinu, the weather will still be very hot today and tomorrow, and the maximum temperature will reach 33oC or above, the forecast said.

Due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, the change in intensity and track of Koinu is still uncertain, but its intensity is expected to weaken and there will be showers and stronger winds later this week, the observatory forecast.
