Melco Resorts & Entertainment continued its tradition of celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with the local community for the 13th consecutive year, according to a recent statement from the integrated resort (IR) operator.
The statement noted that in the month leading up to the festival, over 90 Melco volunteers devoted 177 hours to the local community, spreading joy to 330 community members and those in need through more than 10 activities.
The volunteer team impacted the lives of beneficiaries, which covered seniors, children from low-income families and those with special needs, through Melco and its non-governmental organisation (NGO) community partners’ collective efforts, the statement said.
Melco encouraged this year’s volunteers to join the festive activities with their children to highlight the importance of teaching positive values to the next generation, particularly caring for others through the act of volunteering, the statement said. Popular activities included mooncake-making workshops, Mid-Autumn lantern arts and craft workshops, and visits to seniors and children with special needs.
In a speech during the volunteer team’s visit to the Pou Tai Integrated Service Centre for the Elderly, Melco’s Vice President of Table Games Bella Vong (黄艷玲) was quoted in the statement as saying: “We aim not only to bring joy and companionship to the lives of our beneficiaries, but also to inspire others, including our next generation, to appreciate the importance of giving back and fostering compassion.”
