The Macau International Airport recorded a total of 116,343 passengers during the seven-day period between September 30 and October 6, i.e., from the second to the last day of this year’s eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival-cum-National Day Golden Week holiday, reaching around 66 percent of the passenger numbers recorded in the same period in pre-pandemic 2019, the airport operator CAM has said.

During the seven-day period, a CAM statement noted on Wednesday, the local airport recorded 975 aircraft movements, representing around 63 percent of the level recorded in the corresponding period in 2019.

According to the statement, passengers on mainland China routes accounted for 51 percent of the total passenger numbers during the seven days, while passengers on routes for the Taiwan region represented 13 percent of the total. The remaining passengers, 36 percent of the total, took Southeast Asian flights.

Macau International Airport Company Limited (CAM) pledged in the statement that with the Christmas holiday approaching, the airport will continue to expand its passenger routes, adding that Air Macau, the city’s flag carrier, will launch regular flights between Macau and Indonesia at the end of this month.

In addition, the statement said, the local airport will also continue to work intensively to promote the resumption of passenger flights to other destinations in the mainland. The company will continue with its campaign to increase the Southeast Asian routes and other international routes, the statement said.
