On his 22nd visit to Macau eight-time champion Michael Rutter is aiming for his ninth win on the Guia Circuit at tomorrow’s 50th Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix.
After putting in the fastest lap time of 2 minutes 24.8 seconds in the first qualifying round despite losing the lead briefly to Martin Jessop, Rutter was happy with the result, saying, “I had to pull my finger out when he [Jessop] passed me.”
Rutter, speaking to MPD Weekender after the race in the Bathams’ garage in the paddocks, said that the track was “brilliant today [yesterday]” although he conceded that “qualifying is different to actually racing,” adding “you have to be consistent but the track and the conditions were good today, so that was a result in the bank.”
