A local woman has been arrested for stealing 3,000 patacas in cash she found in the street, Public Security Police (PSP) Lei Chan Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Iu is in her forties. She told the police she’s a businesswoman.
According to Lei, a local man reported to the police on September 1 that he had lost 3,000 patacas in cash when he was walking in Taipa.
The police soon identified Iu as the person who had picked up the money, and she was summoned to a police station on Saturday.
Under questioning, she admitted to stealing the money.
Iu has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft-by-finding charge, according to Lei.
