Integrated resort operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement yesterday that Morpheus, the company’s flagship property located at the City of Dreams (COD) integrated resort in Cotai, has been named among the World’s Most Beautiful Hotels according to Prix Versailles, being the only hotel in Macau to be honoured with the accolade.
The statement noted that Morpheus is the world’s first free-form exoskeleton high-rise designed by the late Dame Zaha Hadid.
The Prix Versailles, which the statement said is a series of architectural contests that highlights the “finest contemporary projects around the world”, has been presented each year since 2015 at UNESCO and focuses on architecture and intelligent sustainability.
The statement said that The Official List “pays tribute to innovation, creativity, reflections of local heritage, ecological efficiency and the values of social interaction and participation which the United Nations holds in high regard”, and is in line with the awarding principles of intelligent sustainability, taking projects’ ecological, social and cultural impacts into consideration.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Chairman & CEO Lawrence Ho Yau-lung was quoted in the statement as saying: “The accolade enhances Melco’s positioning as a global premium brand that goes beyond gaming to raise the bar in luxury hospitality. We are grateful to our colleagues and our collaborators, including the late Dame Zaha Hadid and her gifted team who contribute to the property’s continued success and accomplishments.”
