The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) hosted a two-day “Experience Macao, Unlimited” Carnival at MCP Central in Hong Kong on the weekend to showcase Macau’s “tourism+” offerings and hospitality to Hong Kong residents, according to an MGTO statement on Saturday.

Hong Kong, the statement noted, is Macau’s second largest visitor source market, after the mainland.

The statement said that the event, which had four themed zones, kicked-off on Saturday and featured the launch of a new destination branding video, performances by popular artistes including Alton Wong Chi Tak and Tiger Yau Ngo Yin from Hong Kong boy group “Mirror”, George Au (歐鎮灝) of the boy group P1X3L, as well as singer and After Class girl group member Yumi Chung Yau Mei. There were also games, exhibitions and workshops.

Moreover, with the upcoming 70th Macau Grand Prix (MPG), the statement added that the carnival included a “VR Macao Circuit Challenge” game that offered a chance to win actual tickets to next month’s races, a photo session with Hong Kong racing driver Lo Sze Ho, and an exhibition of two of Lo’s race cars that he will drive around the Guia Circuit next month.

The statement noted that MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said in her speech that provisional figures showed over 5.3 million Hong Kong visitor arrivals to Macau between January and September.

Senna Fernandes added that traditional and electronic marketing, as well as a “diversity of initiatives” are adopted to its destination marketing overall, while MGTO will continue to collaborate with different entities in designing Macau travel itineraries catering to different Hong Kong visitor market segments.

The 70th MGP will take place in two segments, on November 11-12 and November 16-19.
