The 4th Asian Para Games 2023 kicked off on Monday in Hangzhou, and athlete U Choi Hong claimed Macau’s first medal, a bronze, in the table tennis women’s singles Class 7.
The Hangzhou 4th Asian Para Games comprises delegations from 44 countries and regions covering more than 3,100 disabled athletes who are competing in 22 major events and 564 minor events. The seven-day competition will end on Saturday.
U had beaten Kazakhstan’s Olin Bayeva 3-1 to reach the quarter finals, but lost 0-3 to Wang Rui of the mainland Chinese team in the semi-finals yesterday, tying for third place with Kim Seong-ok of South Korea.
The local team participates in the Games as “Macau, China”.
