A female non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland has been apprehended for stealing manicure equipment and materials worth 5,000 patacas from her company, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said in a regular press conference yesterday.
The 31-year-old suspect is surnamed Zhang.
According to Cheong, the incident occurred on Thursday when the manager of the beauty salon noticed that two manicure machines and some manicure materials had vanished from the shop located on Avenida da Concórdia.
When the manager questioned her staff, it emerged that Zhang had taken the manicure equipment and materials to her home in the mainland without obtaining permission from the company. Zhang had removed the items from the shop on the previous evening, i.e., on Wednesday.
Zhang voluntarily returned all the stolen items on Thursday and was subsequently arrested. She claimed that she had taken the items for personal use only.
Zhang has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to Cheong.
