Macau wins silver in women’s jianshu in Guangxi

Local student athlete Wong Weng Ian won the silver medal in the women’s jianshu category at the nation’s 1st Student (Youth) Games in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region yesterday, after winning a gold medal in the campus group in the women’s qiangshu category, according to a statement by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) yesterday.

Jianshu (“straight sword skill”) is a wushu form where the participant uses a jian (a straight sword) as the main element of the routine.

According to the statement, the competition took place yesterday morning. Wong won the silver medal with a score of 9.670, and was the silver medallist in the women’s jianshu contest.

By last night, Macau had won a total of four medals, two golds – one in the women’s qiangshu (campus group) and the other in the women’s 50m breaststroke (open group), one silver in the women’s jianshu (campus group), and a bronze in the women’s changquan (campus group).
