Unmanned aircraft activities, or drones, will be banned from flying over the peninsula during the 70th Macau Grand Prix (MGP) to ensure the race event’s safety, according to a statement yesterday by the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM).

The six-day race extravaganza will start this weekend, and then continue from next Thursday through Sunday.

The statement noted that the banning of drones is in accordance with the power granted to the authority in Article 66 of the Air Navigation Regulation of Macau approved in the Executive Order No. 43/2021.

Those violating the ban will be fined an amount ranging from 2,000 patacas to 20,000 patacas, the statement pointed out.

The statement underlined that unmanned aircraft operations by the government are not included the ban.

The statement added that the notice was also published on the Official Gazette (BO) No. 45, Series II.
