The private City University of Macau (CityU) launched its Arts Education Research Centre on its Taipa campus yesterday with artist Sun Jiangtao appointed as the centre’s founding director.
CityU Rector Zhang Shu Guang said in his opening speech that the centre aimed to provide an academic platform for arts education and research not only for students and staff of the university but also anyone who is interested in the arts.
According to Sun, the university is planning to provide general arts and culture courses for all of the university’s students. Sun said CityU would also offer master’s and doctoral degree programmes in art history, arts education and cultural creativity within three years.
