A local male university student was arrested last Thursday at his home in the northern district for sexually harassing a female colleague by touching her knees when both were taking a rest at their workplace’s staff lounge, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Lei, the Public Security Police received a report from the victim, who is in her twenties, on November 2, saying that she and the suspect surnamed Chan at the time of the incident were both part-time staff of a hotel on Avenida Cidade Nova in Taipa, adding that Chan had touched her knees on several occasions while taking a break at the hotel’s staff lounge.
Lei said that upon identifying Chan, who is in his twenties, PSP officers arrested him last Thursday at his home, adding that under questioning, Chan denied committing the offence.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge.
