The Public Security Police (PSP) have arrested a drunken female driver whose car crashed into a tree, six railings and the kerb on Avenida da Nave Desportiva in Taipa, PSP spokesman Lei Chan Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to the spokesman, PSP officers arrived at the scene to respond to a traffic accident in the wee hours of last Saturday, where they found the suspect, surnamed Lei, reeking of alcohol. The spokesman pointed out that a breathalyser test detected her alcohol concentration as 2.62 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.

Under questioning, the jobless suspect, who is in her thirties, said that she drank alcoholic beverages at a bar in Nape before driving. She also said that she failed to control the speed of the car because of which her car crashed into the tree, railings and kerb in Avenida da Nave Desportiva.

In addition to having transferred her to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where she faces a drunk-driving charge, Lei also faces a fine for causing a traffic accident, according to the spokesman.
