The Macau Customs Service said in a statement yesterday that it has caught a man for illegally entering Macau, after a video was circulated on social media showing a man climbing over the border fence next to the Avenida da Ponte da Amizade waterfront.
The statement said the man was intercepted outside the Barrier Gate by Customs Services Public Security Police (PSP) officers yesterday.
The purpose for the man’s illegal entry is still under investigation, the statement said.
The statement said that after learning of the incident from the Internet, the Customs Services immediately notified the PSP to launch the “anti-smuggling work joint prevention mechanism”, and finally intercepted the man at 3:30 p.m.
No other suspicious persons and suspicious vessels were found in the area where the incident occurred, the statement said.
