Macau Taxi Association Vice-Chairman Tai Kam Leong said yesterday he believed the sector would like to provide e-hailing, adding that the government’s support was necessary to get the service off the ground.
E-hailing is the process of ordering a car, taxi, limousine, or any other form of transportation pick-up via a computer or mobile device, according to Wikipedia. The “e” stands for electronic and “hailing” refers to the traditional way of signalling an approaching taxi to stop.
Tai made the remarks on the sidelines of an event held by his group in a sitting-out area near Lok Yeong Garden Building about raising taxi drivers’ knowledge of Macau’s cultural heritage and promoting communication between cabbies and passengers.
