Macau's gross gaming revenue (GGR) generated by its 30 casinos rose by 435.0 percent year-on-year to 16.0 billion patacas (US$1.99 billion) in November, according to figures released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) today.

Macau confirmed its first COVID-19 case in January 2020, resulting in a drastic fall in local casinos' GGR for three consecutive years. In November last year Macau was still affected by strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures, which were gradually relaxed late last year.

Month-on-month, GGR was down by 15.7 percent in November.

In the first 11 months of this year, GGR grew by 324.9 percent year-on-year to 164.5 billion patacas, accounting for 56.2 percent of the one in the first 11 months of pre-pandemic 2019.
