A non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland has been arrested for furtively taking photos of a female coworker while she was having a shower, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Leong Chi Seng said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The 51-year-old suspect surnamed Xu works as a waiter in a nightclub. The victim in her thirties is also a non-resident worker from the mainland.
According to Leong, on December 6, the victim returned to the staff quarters on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda after finishing work. She entered the bathroom to have a shower at around 8:30 a.m., during which she noticed a smartphone placed beneath a gap in the damaged door, with its camera pointed towards the bathroom, leading her to suspect that someone was secretly filming her.
Leong noted that the victim hurriedly got dressed, exited the bathroom, and caught Xu in possession of the phone. The victim promptly reported the case to the police.
Police officers found five photos on Xu’s phone, which captured the victim’s face and private areas. Xu confessed to the crime, claiming that he was “curious” about what was happening inside the bathroom.
Xu has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an invasion of privacy charge, Leong said.
