A female non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland and two local residents have been arrested for their involvement in fake employment, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.

The mainlander in her thirties, surnamed Zhang, was registered as a domestic helper for the local female suspect, surnamed Loi.

Loi is a saleswoman in her twenties. She is the girlfriend of the local male suspect, surnamed Ng, who is in his twenties and told the police he’s jobless.

According to Lai, the Public Security Police (PSP) recently investigated Zhang’s non-resident worker (NRW) employment as she was seldom in Macau. She was summoned to a police station for questioning on January 2.

Zhang told the police that she met Ng when gambling in a casino in late 2022, and they became friends. Ng then asked Loi to hire her as her domestic helper, with Zhang getting her a work permit in 2022.

Under questioning, Ng claimed that he had not received any payment from Zhang for the deal, while Zhang claimed that she had obtained the work permit in order to frequently come to Macau for shopping.

The trio have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing document forgery charges, according to Lai.
