The University of Macau (UM) said in a statement yesterday that it will offer a two-year Master of Science (MSc) in Business Analytics programme starting in the 2024/2025 academic year, aiming to “equip students with the knowledge and skills required to make data-driven decisions in the business sector”.
The statement noted that the programme, through a combination of analytical training with business acumen, also aims to “develop well-rounded professionals capable of solving complex business problems”.
Fields such as statistical analysis and predictive modelling will be studied, according to the statement, while students can learn about programming languages and tools commonly used in the business sector, as well as how to use data to identify market trends and enhance the customer experience, among others.
Practical applications and experiential learning, the statement said, are emphasised in the programme, with students able to take part in real-world projects, case studies, and internships.
The statement quoted Faculty of Business Administration Chair Professor Zhang Wenyang, who is the programme’s coordinator, as saying that the ability to leverage data for informed decision-making, improved efficiency, and sustainable growth is highly valued in all industries. He added that those graduating from the programme may take on roles such as data scientists and data strategists in different industries, among others, and will have a range of career opportunities.
Programme applications are already open. One can visit https://grs.um.edu.mo/index.php/prospective-students/ for details and admission, while enquiries can be made by calling 8822 4898 during office hours or send an email to gradschool@um.edu.mo
