According to a survey conducted by the Macau Internet Creativity and Development Association (MICDA), 42.7 percent of the respondents tend to find new media’s news reporting more trustworthy than the traditional media, while 29.8 percent tend to trust traditional media, and 27.5 percent tend to trust neither.

The association carried out the survey last month about residents’ views on the credibility of traditional and new media, where 1,011 locals aged from 18 to 45 were chosen randomly in the streets to fill in questionnaires.

The results of the survey were announced at a press conference yesterday at the Macao Daily News Building. Some 89 percent respondents have graduated from high school or a tertiary education institution, with 80 percent having several years of work experience.
