A newly-completed one-way flyover running from Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental in Taipa to Avenida Marginal Flor de Lótus in west Cotai will open tomorrow, the government has announced.
The Transport Bureau (DSAT) and the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) made the announcement in a joint statement on Friday last week.
The new flyover that will open tomorrow is the southwestern spur of the current flyover running from Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental to Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, which opened in September 2021.
Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental runs between Sai Van Bridge’s entrance/exit and the Galaxy Macau integrated resort.
Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança runs between Galaxy Macau and the Venetian casino-hotel resort. The avenue serves as a dividing line between Taipa and Cotai.
Avenida Marginal Flor de Lótus in west Cotai runs between Galaxy Macau and near the Seac Pai Van neighbourhood in Coloane.
The current flyover connecting Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental and Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, which opened in September 2021, comprises a one-way lane in either direction, namely a 732-metre-long one running from Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental to Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, and a 434-metre-long one running in the other way.
After the new spur opens tomorrow, drivers entering from Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental can choose to travel to either Estrada da Baía de Nossa Senhora da Esperança, as currently, or use the new spur en route to Avenida Marginal Flor de Lótus.
Construction of the new spur got off the ground in August 2022.
