A Vietnamese woman has been arrested for selling cannabidiol (CBD) oil, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Chan Wun Man said during a special press conference on Friday.
The 25-year-old suspect surnamed Vu told the police she’s a masseuse working in Macau.
Chan said this was the first case in Macau after the amended anti-drug law enacted last November that included 15 additional internationally controlled substances.
According to Chan, the masseuse was suspected of selling CBD oil to her fellow countrymen and friends under the cover of fruit flavoured e-liquid.
Chan said the police recently received a tip-off and intercepted the suspect at 2 a.m. on Thursday, after which, police officers first found 13 bottles of CBD oil with droppers, each with a capacity of about 10ml, hidden in her flat, and later found 10 bottles of the same type of CBD oil, with a total estimated street value of 11,000 patacas, in a hiding place in a street in the city centre.
Under questioning, the suspect admitted that she received the drugs from her boyfriend in her hometown, and had sold more than 80 bottles of CBD oil in the past three months, but she refused to reveal details about the sourcing of the drugs, how she received them and how much she earned from selling the drugs, Chan said.
The police said that after the use of CBD oil, the effect would be very similar to smoking cannabis, causing similar damage to the human body, They urged the public to beware of people using doctored e-liquid as a lure to take drugs.
The liquid used in e-cigarettes is known as e-liquid.
