Local public broadcaster TDM held an inauguration ceremony on Thursday for its newsroom in Hengqin, after having been in a trial operation from last August, which is the company’s first newsroom outside of Macau, according to a statement released by TDM on that day.
Situated in the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the TDM newsroom, named “TDM Zhuhai Newsroom”, covers a total area of 52 square metres and consists of an office, a live streaming studio and a recording studio, according to the statement.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong; the deputy director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Tian Xiaoping; Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) Director Inês Chan Lou, Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin Executive Committee Deputy Director Su Kun, Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM) Board of Directors President Frederico Ma Chi Ngai, TDM Board of Directors Chairman António José de Freitas and TDM Executive Committee President Lorman Lo Song Man, as well as six other TDM representatives.
Addressing the ceremony, Su said that the establishment of the TDM newsroom in Zhuhai reflected significant progress in expanding Macau’s broadcast services in the mainland. He said he believed that the newsroom would enable Macau to better integrate itself into the overall development of the nation and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Lo said in her remarks that her company would continue to improve the level of programme production and present high-quality programmes with Macau characteristics for viewers in both Macau and Guangdong. She noted that since TDM started its broadcasts across the Pearl River Delta region last October, a plethora of opportunities have been made possible for the development of Macau’s cultural industry and social progress.
TDM is Macau’s public radio and TV broadcaster.
