A local woman “fell” from a residential building and died upon impact on Saturday afternoon, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement on the same day.
The Judiciary Police said in a separate statement on Saturday that the police earlier that day discovered a female non-resident worker (NRW) who had hanged herself.
Both cases have preliminarily been listed as a dead body found.
Elderly woman ‘falls’ from building
The statement identified the first deceased as a local elderly woman. She lived with her family in a flat in Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira in Taipa, the statement added.
According to the statement, the woman phoned a member of her family and told him or her that she “was suffering”, so the phone call recipient rushed home immediately.
However, upon arrival, the family member found that the deceased had “fallen” to her death, the statement said.
According to the family, the deceased had often expressed suicidal thoughts recently.
The statement said that no suicide note was found at the scene.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that the injuries of multiple fractures were consistent with a fall from a height, according to the statement, which pointed out that there were no suspected criminal injuries on the body.
After investigation at the scene, it was suspected that the deceased had “fallen” from the window of her room.
The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, the statement said.
Domestic helper hangs herself
According to the other statement, the deceased was identified as a middle-age woman. She worked as a domestic helper and lived with her employer in a flat in Rua de Tai Lin in Taipa.
The statement said that the woman went to bed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, and hadn’t got up by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, so the employer’s mother went into her room and found the woman had hanged herself, the statement said. The employer’s family called the police immediately.
According to the statement, PJ officers confirmed that she had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, nor were there any signs of a struggle found at the scene. The statement added that a post-mortem examination will be performed.
The statement said that two suicide notes were found at the scene.
