The Macau Red Cross made donations to 20 projects in the rural areas of Guizhou, Jiangxi and Hubei provinces last year, including three kindergartens, 12 health stations, two bridges, as well as one project each for a primary school, an ambulance station, and a senior care centre, with a total amount of 10.84 million yuan (12.32 million patacas), Macau Red Cross President Eddie Wong Yue Kai said yesterday.

Wong made the remarks during a media dinner hosted by the Macau Red Cross yesterday at the Federal Restaurant, adding that with the strong support of all walks of life, the Macau Red Cross has actively integrated itself into the overall development of the country and continued to contribute to the revitalisation of the nation’s villages.

Meanwhile, Wong said that the Macau Red Cross last year also provided assistance in the form of emergency supplies for flood-stricken areas in Hebei and earthquake-stricken areas in Turkey.

Wong noted that locally, the non-emergency ambulance service served more than 32,000 attendances in 2023, and 78 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) were installed at Macau’s border checkpoints, major tourist attractions and busy areas.
