The observatory expects the lowest temperature to be around 6°C today and 9°C tomorrow, and called on the public to take precautions to stay warm.

The “very cold weather” Orange alert and strong monsoon signal will remain in effect for the time being, the observatory said.

The weather station recorded the temperature of 4.3°C at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, which was the lowest since the beginning of winter and also the fifth lowest temperature recorded in January since 1999.

According to the bureau, the strong winter monsoon will continue to affect the weather, which will be cold and dry today, while the winter monsoon is expected to ease off later in the week, with rain from next Monday and highs of 22°C by next Wednesday.

The observatory said it will still be cold in the morning and evening throughout this week, with sunshine during some parts of the day, with temperatures picking up day by day later this week.

The observatory said it expects that the minimum temperature to rise to above 10°C from Saturday, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 21°C from Saturday to next Tuesday.
