Rider rushed to ED after skidding in Taipa

    A motorcycle rider was rushed to the Emergency Department of the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre yesterday for treatment after he skidded and fell on Avenida do Coronel Mesquita in Taipa, sustaining a head contusion, according to the Public Security Police (PSP).

The accident involved a Municipal Affairs Bureau’s (IAM) van, the Public Security Police said, adding that the male victim was suspected of braking suddenly to avoid crashing with the van, when the latter was making a U-turn, resulting in his vehicle sliding and him falling off his motorbike.

According to a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday, the victim, aged 36, is a local resident. The man suffered decreased consciousness while being rushed to the hospital, the statement noted.

There was no update on his medical condition last night.
