The dead bodies of a mother and daughter were found yesterday at their home on Estrada do Cemitério, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lou Kam Fai said in a statement, adding that the duo was estimated to have died about a year ago.
According to the statement, the body of the elderly victim was skeletonised, while the body of the middle-aged victim was mummified due to environmental factors, estimating that both had been dead for over a year and nearly a year respectively.
The Judiciary Police were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) of a dead-bodies-found case at 12:21 p.m. yesterday.
The statement said that the two corpses were not discovered until the landlord went looking for the tenants as they had not paid their rent for a long time. The landlord told the police that as no one answered the door yesterday, he or she hired a locksmith to open the door, and later found the dead bodies in the flat.
The statement did not reveal the landlord’s gender.
There were no signs of burglary or fighting at the scene, nor any item suspected of being a possible murder weapon, the statement noted. The exact cause of deaths has yet to be determined until their respective forensic examinations are carried out, it underlined.
